Unirapid

The range of UNIRAPID fittings are intended for mixed metal-plastic junctions in systems for water distribution, made in plastic material piping with a unified external diameter (Polyethylene, PVC, nylon, Moplen, etc).

The hydraulic seal is guaranteed by no less than two gaskets, an O-ring and a Collar.

The use of a double gasket guarantees the hydraulic seal both outward and inward, thereby preventing the possibility of contaminating the water with other substances in the soil.

The mechanical seal is ensured by a metal, self-tightening conical ring with internal, three-tooth ringed grooving with a triangular gripping section on the pipe and tightened by a ring-tightener ring nut.

The presence of the brass conical ring ensures, in any case, mechanical resistance to removal, in that the same force which tends to remove the pipe triggers, thanks to the conical coupling between ring nut and ring, compression on the pipe which is automatically locked with utmost safety even in the presence of pressure shifts in the line (water hammer).

The pipe fitting coupling is at the same time extremely practical and flexible in that the two components are free to rotate with respect to one another, allowing alignment at any time and, in the case of straight fittings, screwing the fitting with other branches, a characteristic that is exclusive to our fitting.

The male threading of our fittings is conical, not cylindrical, in compliance with Standard UNI ISO 7.

The conical threading clearly provides a greater seal guarantee compared to a cylindrical one. In fact, the major water distribution companies normal request this. Furthermore, there are small cuts on the crest of the thread (knurling) in order to guarantee that Teflon or other types of materials suitable for sealing the thread will have better grip.

The female threading of our fittings is cylindrical, in compliance with Standard UNI ISO 228.

The fittings are supplied assembled and ready for use. Use is extremely simple and quick in that it requires no operation of disassembly and reassembly, but just insertion all the way of the pipe into the fitting seat. Our fitting does not need any tightening operation by the operator. This characteristic is very useful when working in manhole pits where spaces for operation are very tight.

Besides a savings of time for installation, the possibility of the installer over-tightening the ring-tightener ring nut is also prevented, which would over-stress the O-Ring or the thread, thereby creating possible damage which would, over time, lead to a rupture of the gasket or the fitting itself. It is also possible that this ring nut could be too loose and that the fitting could leak or come apart. In our case, this eventuality does not exist because the ring nut is tightened in the in-house assembly phase and it has characteristics that are such not to allow for the possibility o error in tightening (travel limit stop).

The pipe-tightener ring nut can in any case be disassembled at any time for maintenance operations or system modifications.

The weight of the fitting is greater than the normal fittings available on the market. This highlights greater solidity due to intentionally greater seal thickness in order to prevent breakage in the points that are stressed by pressure or particular stress outside of the line (landslides). This thickness also guarantees greater resistance to corrosion and therefore longer life over time.
